The Fragmented Orchestra

I visited the FACT (cinema and gallery space) today with my Music and Contemporary Thought class. This is an exhibition called The Fragmented Orchestra, which I'll be writing an essay on in a few weeks. It's a really interesting project, using live web audio from 24 different locations around the UK which is then run through a sound program, whose structure is based on synapse activity, directing how and when the speakers (neurons) 'fire'. I would definately recommend anyone who's near Liverpool to go see it. I think it's fascinating even if you aren't a fan of sound art.

Listening to: I have the Fragmented Orchestra running from the website, but I suppose there is no sound at the moment because everyone is at home away from microphones.

Here's One I Made Earlier

Last night my two housemates went on dates, my boyfriend went to band practice, my brother is in Italy snowboarding, and I? I made a draft excluder that looks like a happy worm.

On Lancaster and Zombies

Lancaster train station has a strange feeling to it. If I was going to film a zombie movie, it would be in an abandoned train station. Maybe this one.

OnLy Two more SleEps

If you could see the words as they fall out my mouth when I'm excited, this is how they would look. The source photo is the front of the fridge. I think all fridges should have letters on, or at least those packs of poetry words.

I'm home in two days. \o/

//Short On Money, But Long On Time//

The beautiful new shoes that I ordered on friday arrived today, and I am in love with them. They have RAINBOWS and BUTTERFLIES and STARS and a DEER and BRIGHT COLOURS. How could I not have them in my life? I performed an impressive acrobatic legcock on the banister to take this photo for you, so you can appreciate the wonderment of my new shoes. I hope you feel pleased about that.

Dear Wetherspoons: You Suck

Rachel made homemade burgers yesterday. (I helped by smashing up the cream crackers that make them stick together.) I cannot describe just how much they rock, but they are a MILLION SQUILLION TIMES BETTER than pub burgers. And that's saying something.

My camera ran out of battery so I had to take a picture on my phone, hence the poor quality.

OMG SNOW

It snowed lots today, but none of it stuck for very long. Liverpool doesn't get snow very often, being close(ish) to the sea. This is the view from over one of the walls in our back yard. It looks much better full size :)

Wire and Wood

As the dust suggests, I've barely touched my guitar in months. I've hated almost everything I've written, and only tolerated what I've arranged. I hope I get over it soon. Lyric-writing isn't going much better, I only ever seem to be able to do one verse and the chorus, possibly a bridge, and then I'm stuck. I find it impossible to do more than one verse. Bah. Slightly more friendly with my piano.

[Remember that time you told me /
that love was touching souls? /
Well surely you touched mine /
cause part of you pours out of me /
in these lines from time to time.]

We made mars bar cornflake cakes. Mmm. Tomorrow will be started with cakefast, as every day should. This is Lucy's sexy Delia face. Maybe.

I Love Lamp

I have always loved lava lamps. In fact, I love coloured light in general. There are four different  sources of light in my room, not including candles, all different colours. They kind of balance each other out, but if you just have the main light on and the fairy lights, then it looks like you've wandered into the red light district. I'm going to go out into the real world tomorrow for more than just scavenging for food because my work is finally all in, so hopefully my pictures should improve in the next week or so. :)

After Midnight, Again.

I wasn't going to post this, as it's kind of cheesy, and badly taken and blurry, but it's the only photo I have for today. Also, my writing with my left hand is terrible. And looks a bit like Donnie Darko's.

Sometimes I Wish I Was Victorian

This is Rachel's jewelry stand in her room. I have one myself back at home, but mine has sequins and sparkles rather than flowers. I think I love them so much because of the wonderful tiny-waisted Victorian shape. Probably the same reason I love corsets.

Plastic Peppers Do Add A Certain Something

Paradise Pizza down the road has renamed itself "Goodfellas", and with its refit have come a higher class of carbonated drinks. Carbonated drinks on doilies. You don't get much classier than that. There are also fake plastic peppers.

I'm half Jill, and half Jack.

Rachel and I went to the cornershop on the way back from the post office and got two Jack Daniel's shot glasses, two coasters and a pourer for 99p. Bargain.

I love Jack Daniel's. It tastes like good memories.

It is so cold at the moment. I took this at about noon, and it was still frozen solid. I stepped on the ice and it made a cracking sound that made me happy, so I did it on as much as I could find. Pretend I posted this before midnight.

Leaving on a Jet Plane

I tried taking some photos of sparkly Liverpool from the air but it didn't really work so I took this instead. I liked how the light and the propellor looked. Hope you don't mind me using the back of your head Guy Who Was Sat In Front of Me. His mate who was sat next to him was really scared of flying, he spent the whole time with his coat over his head, shaking, with Guy Who Was Sat In Front of Me slipping him straight whisky. At a guess I would say we were over Garston at this point.

On Harry and Robins

We took down the Christmas decorations today, and the tree. We have quite a few of these robins perched on greenery (fake or otherwise) around the house. They have little wires on their feet so you can stick them to branches and stuff. One of Harry's favourite Christmas games is to turn them all upside down so they look drunk or dead.

Crimson and Raptors

This is Crimson, sometimes maurading under the alias of Criminal, and occasionally "Fagbutt". He belongs to Lady Steve and has recently taken up humping, as adolescent animals do (including humans). I think he looks a bit like the Phantom of the Opera.

Also, although its not strictly a photo, I got a new mount today so I want to show it off.

The Number 9

Ok, so it may be a little cheesy, a little myspazz, but this is the first photo I took in 2009 (00:03) so it's going to be my photo for today. (Also I really love it. Alexx and I have ALL of the hair.)

I think 2009 is going to be a good year. Not just because 9 is my favourite number, but that does have something to do with it. If you could hold the number 9 it would feel nice in your hand.
